Research to help improve the health of pregnant women and their children

What is the purpose of this research?

To study the effect that inflammation during pregnancy has on the health of the child.

Why is this research important?

This study should help to understand, treat and prevent many diseases.

Who is doing this research?

This study is being conducted by a team of researchers from the University of Saskatchewan and is supported by the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation. Who will be participating in this research? We will be studying:

• Women who intend to become pregnant within 12 months and who do become pregnant
• Women who are in the first trimester of pregnancy
• Women late in their pregnancy who have a pregnancy associated with certain high risk factors
• The children born following these pregnancies will be followed to evaluate their health
